4/2/20 Coach Update
by Grace Saturnia posted 4/2/2020

Aloha Coaches-

Just want to give you all a quick update after our recent AYLA board conference call on Monday 3/30.  While Covid-19 has tied our hands for this season, the AYLA Board is still working on keeping the momentum and enthusiasm going.  Below are some questions that you may have.

1. Is the season canceled?

No, it is "postponed".  We are still hopeful about a summer option, though at this point we don't know what that will look like.  I've been in touch with our USL regional rep who says that many leagues are in the same boat and keeping options open for now.  Our decision is dependent on State/Local government directives, and other logistical issues. We may know more by 4/30 and will make an announcement then.

2. What can I do to help?

Two things you can do:

-- Check in:  As coaches, it would be great for you to personally touch base with your teams'families even though we realize you didn't have a chance to get to know them with our season abruptly cut.  If you can, a quick hello and a few tips on a daily skill to work on would be great. Parents are all looking for ways to create a "normal" routine for kids who are now studying at home.  Let's help them out!

-- Send us video clips/boomerangs/photos OR Tag us on Social media:  We will continue to post on social media (FB & IG). Many players & parents follow us on social media, so this is a great way to keep enthusiasm going. Drills or tips and anything fun & creative would be welcome. 3.  Who or What is the "AYLA Board"?

Just in case you are wondering... Some of you may not know who all the volunteers are who are working behind the scenes. We are a diverse group and are always looking for parent/coaches to join our board and operations committee. Some of you have already stepped up to join and may not be on this list yet, so MAHALO!
